Two investors have recently invested in the company SportMember, which is based in Aarhus, and are now preparing for major growth. It is Rasmus Dissing Pedersen and Mads Dissing Pedersen, that will now invest their money in this project.
SportMember was first introduced, by Frank Bjergø, 10 years ago. Back then it was simply a simple solution of the many everyday challenges, such as; how to manage all your players, practice times, match programs, washing of sport kits, attendance and so on, without drowning in communication.
- “Sometimes we were 7 players attending practice, and other times we were 15. It was impossible to coordinate, and it meant that we sometimes would experience lacking players and sometimes too many attended practice”, Frank Bjergø remembers from his time as a football player.
Opposite to many other football players throughout the ages, he would not accept these difficult coordination problems, irritating him. Frank Bjergø immediately began designing a piece of software, that was later named SportMember, and would become Denmarks largest social sports network.
Today, SportMember can manage everything from the calendar to the membership payments, and SportMember now employs 15 members of staff, who works intensively on developing and spreading the service.
- “My ambition for SportMember, is for it to become a fully functional coach portal, that can solve all the everyday practical challenges. Coaches usually spend up to 50% of their time off the playing field, coordinating activities, and this is the problem that SportMember seeks to solve” Frank Bjergø says.
SportMember has now reached 330.000 users, nearly 50.000 teams, and around 1.000 clubs, and since 2010 it has been the fulltime job of Frank Bjergø to manage the company.
